Memorial Day Weekend

We hit Boondocks on Monday with cousins. We were there for 8 hours, then I drove home! Talk about exhausted. Luckily Lindsey rode up front to keep me awake!! Ya right, she made it about 5 minutes, then knocked out!!

Girls!
Kayla's hole in one!

Just a little wet from the bumper boats

Aw, Lindsey showing her mother some love, or .... ya she's trying to get me wet!

INside the play house. Paity lasted about 5 min. She wanted to be outside with the big kids!

What a nice cousin to take Paity on a ride

Ginger is screaming before they even get out of the gate. That should give us a hint about Lindsey's driving! Only 3 more years, and she's legal!

Wade's hole in one!

A little difficult with a caste, but he persevered!

Brett's hole in one!

Capture the Flag

Ginger and Jerzee rollin around

Cute drawings girls!!

A MADD game of Four square was going on. The neighbor kids even came over to join in.

Sorry kids. Wade and Uncle McKay have skills! Maybe that's because they changed the rules everytime they were in the leader box.

Oh my goodness, me again. Awesome lunch at Toucanos.

BEES GAME So awesome!! We had a guy in front of us that when the other team was warming up below us (We were at 3rd base) He would go Bewoop everytime the pitcher pitched it, and then Bewoop every time he threw it back. Doesn't make sense telling it, but it sounded just like a cartoon. So funny. By the end of the night the whole crowd was doing it!!

Brett was so ready for a foul ball.

Cheese!! Brett got a ball by the end of the night. He stood right by the other team and asked them everytime they came out to practice. Some guy yelled, "give it to the poor kid, he's got a broken arm" so they did. He worked it!! Then we walked away with about 15 loaves of Grandma Sycamores bread that they gave away at the end of the game.

Memorial Day Weekend was Fabulous!! We went to the Planetarium. The girls went to Mars

They all got to walk on the moon.

Brett got to try on Space Goggles.

Oh.... wait .... who's that? Am I in a picture? Well sakes preserve us.

Weight on Other Worlds. Ya right. You couldn't pay me to step on that scale. It's bad enough on Earth!!Me

Meeting Buzz

Weather Forecasters. Maybe Linz has a future job. Maybe Brett and Paityn do to being.... um.. rappers??

Aah, now that is my Eternity!! Love you hon

You know, sometimes it's so nice to have a nice lazy day at the Park. Hitting baseballs, tennis balls, kites, and just relaxing. This is one of those days that makes you so grateful to be a Mother. So grateful to have a family and a good husband who loves to play with his kids!
Paityn is so Daddy's girl, and with him gone during the week we try to really make the weekends count.

Hopefully he'll always be open and just want to talk.

What's better than a ride down the street on a skateboard with a dog pulling it? Now I ask you. What a great way to start out the summer.

Thanx Aunt Em for a great ride!

No more pins!

The day arrived bright and sunny. I heard a woo-hoo come from down the hall. Brett was awake and yelled, because he was so excited to be getting his pins out. Poor kid, he had no idea what was awaiting him! I wasn't going to tell him that getting his pins pulled was not just like pulling a toothpick out of meat. (The way his Dr.'s described it) Silly doctors you can't fool me. Anyway, off we went to Highland for one of our many appointments. Off with the old and on with the new for the 5th time.

This is his hand with the pins out. Should heal nicely they say. As you can tell I skipped the picture of them actually taking out the pins. Not sure many of you would appreciate the video. Brett gave me permission to use it, but I think I'll pass. Let's just say they brought out the pliers, and warned us of blood. They even asked me if I wanted to leave. DUD!! I love this stuff. He did awesome. They thought they would have to give him some time in between pins, but he did so well they forged ahead. I tell you what he is one brave kid!! He even watched through bouts of pain and groans.

This is the bottle of pins which we were told we could remove from the disinfectant liquid after 2 days when all the blood and flesh was gone. O.K. EW! That was gross.
Now he has a short arm cast, his pins as a souvenir, and only another 2 more weeks to go. So glad. Summer will not be as bad as I thought. We were originally told it would come off right before the 4th of July. Thank Heavens for tender mercies!!

You're a trooper Brett!!

Bummer!!

*******WARNING GRAPHIC PICTURES For THOSE OF YOU WITH WEAK STOMACHS!!!*************************

O.K. I know it's been forever. Now is the monumental task of catching up. First though is our Brett story. On my birthday April 17th, we were up at my brothers house in Pleasant Grove. The adults were all talking in one of the bedrooms when all of a sudden Lindsey comes rushing in out of breath: "Mom....... Brett.......Fell......out...of....a....tree.....and...his.....bones.....are.....coming.....out! So, we take off running. Wade ran to Brett, and my brother and I ran for his truck. In my head I was saying, CRAP no insurance, but we knew this would happen some day.( For those of you who don't know Brett, he is not the type of kid to sit down and play with legos for hours. He is active, and would rather be playing something, than sitting inside.) Anyway, we drove the truck over to the "treehouse", and I jumped out of the car to go to him. Wade motioned me away, DUD!! I wanted to see. So, we picked up his arm and helped him to the car. Sure enough both bones were coming out. Compound fracture, CRAP!! In my finite medical mind I thought oh, just set the bone, a few stitches and cast.

We got him into the car, said a prayer, and all he could say was, this is my good arm, I'm so stupid, I'm so stupid, amidst cries of torturous pain. We rushed him to the Emergency Room, and they got him on Morphine right away. Whew!! It took the edge off luckily, but poor guy. He was inconsolable. About every 20 minutes, they gave him morphine, until they could get the Xray techs. downstairs. The nurse told me they would have to do surgery, and I still held it together, until my Dad and brother showed up to help give him a blessing. My brother said they went out and measured the tree from where he fell: 35-40 feet. That is a 3 story building people. I lost it then. I had no idea how close my son came to dying until that moment!

They knocked him out, and took Xrays. Sure enough both bones broken right below his wrist as shone above. They told us they had to wait for a surgery to be done before they could take him up, and we would wait for the Orthopedist. So many blessings. There just happened to be an Orthopedist at the hospital that day. Saturday is not his day for that hospital, but someone had broken their hip and was in emergency surgery. Dr Mattews, our Orthopedist is also an arm and wrist specialist!!! He came down and looked at Brett, when I told them what happened, he looked at me shocked and said"You are very lucky your son is alive today, and with only a broken arm, a black eye, and scratches from head to toe. He could have been impaled, paralyzed, etc, etc, etc........ He said we would have to wait about an hour to go into surgery. Someone was coming in for a ruptured appendix. They would keep him somewhat sedated until then. 20 min. later the Anesthesiologist came down and readied him for surgery. The appendix wasn't there yet, so they were taking Brett up right now!

We got him up to the OR, and he said this is my throwing arm!. We told him it would be O.K., watched them wheel him off and Wade and I both lost it. Seeing out little boy being wheeled away, and knowing I couldn't be there was heartbreaking! 2 1/2 hours later they came out and told us it went really well. The bones when they came out impaled the ground, so there was a lot of cleaning to do to prevent infection. They put 4 rods in to keep it all in place. They would splint it until swelling went down, and he would have to stay overnight in the hospital. The Dr. said that all the OR was a buzz, Drs, nurses, and techs were coming in, everyone had their Iphones out snapping pics of his arm. Most kids break one bone, he broke both, and they came out. So, he is still the talk of the hospital. Everyone asks him everytime he goes in how the little guy was that fell from the tree.

It was a very long night. He was in pain, they tried to get it regulated, his oxygen was low, and he kept having flash backs from falling out of the tree. ( Thank Heavens for Star Wars. He watched 4 movies that night) He was climbing the tree with Braxton and Burke and they were climbing up into the different "rooms" (it was a "treehouse") the limbs were poking them in the back, so they were breaking branches off as he climbed up. He turned around to see one cousin leaving, and he decided to do the same. He went to go down, and he slipped and was hanging. He tried to hoist his legs back up and he slipped again, and the branch broke! Down he came. Lindsey and all the kids watched him fall, when he landed Lindsey went to him, and tried to pull the sticks out of his arm, and realized it was his bones. Thats' when she came running to tell us what happened. The kids had a hard time that night, and Lindsey called me crying. She kept reliving it too and felt that she should have done something to stop him. Poor thing. She is my nurturer.

The Dr. came in to check us out the next morning, and he told us he was afraid yesterday that Brett would have no feeeling in his arm or hand. The nerve and veins had dropped to the underside of his arm, he split muscles, and it didn't look good. Glad to say he does have all feeling, he will throw a football again, and shoot a basketball. Brett and the Dr. both were very relieved.

(Star Wars was on can you tell?)

So, Friday he goes in and gets the rods out of his arm and his 4th cast. We'll see how that goes. Sheesh!! Grateful for my boy. So thankful Heavenly Father let me keep him!
